Ellen Chittum here. I will be starting my 26th year as an educator. For the past four years I have been an English Learner teacher. I was the first fulltime EL teacher in Salem where I was also a new teacher mentor. Last year was my first year in RCPS and in a middle school setting. I went through a lot of self reflection making this past year. My transition will help make me a stronger mentor.

Hi Ellen,
I am an EL teacher as well! Practicing self-reflection is such a great tool to use as a mentor. What is a valuable lesson you've learned from being a mentor?
